THE FOUNDERS OF AVILLAFRANCISKA

Christina Engsig and Barbara Hvidt bring complementary perspectives to AVILLAFRANCISKA.
Barbara comes from a lineage of Danish designers and architects. Her expertise in fashion, photography, and visual storytelling informs a multidisciplinary approach to textile creation, one that dissolves the boundaries between textile and art, and channels a deeply personal, intuitive sensibility rooted in materiality, memory, and visual culture. She brings many years of experience as an independent entrepreneur within the design industry.
Christina, has years of international experience within luxury fashion and textile design. Enriched by years abroad and shaped by a multicultural family rooted in a profound appreciation for both antique and contemporary art, she brings a deep sensitivity for materials, process, and historical craftsmanship.
The duo, share a strong appreciation for Danish textile heritage, particularly weaving, and a desire to transform archival material into quietly expressive modern designs that honor the
quality of history and centuries of elegance.
At the heart of AVILLAFRANCISKA lies a dedication to enduring craftsmanship, authenticity, and timeless textile artistry.
