THE FOUNDERS OF AVILLAFRANCISKA

Christina Engsig and Barbara Hvidt bring complementary perspectives to AVILLAFRANCISKA.
Barbara comes from a lineage of Danish designers and architects. Her expertise in fashion, photography, and visual storytelling informs a multidisciplinary approach to textile creation, one that dissolves the boundaries between textile and art, and channels a deeply personal, intuitive sensibility rooted in materiality, memory, and visual culture.
Christina, has years of international experience within luxury fashion and textile design. Enriched by years abroad and shaped by a multicultural family rooted in a profound appreciation for both antique and contemporary art, she brings a deep sensitivity for materials, process, and historical craftsmanship.
The duo, share a strong appreciation for Danish textile heritage, particularly weaving, and a desire to transform archival material into quietly expressive modern designs that honor the
quality of history and centuries of elegance.
At the heart of AVILLAFRANCISKA lies a dedication to enduring craftsmanship, authenticity, and timeless textile artistry.
