GARLANDS TOWELS
AN
ORNAMENTAL
RHYTHM
GARLANDS Towels draw their motifs from original 18th-century archival garland designs, kindly lent by Koeng Museum and held within one of Denmark's most historically significant linen weaving mills. Jacquard-woven in Portugal from 50% European linen and 50% cotton, the towels are presented in Butter Creme, their framed ornaments emerging through a refined pearled structure and varied woven textures as light moves across the surface. Among the world's oldest textile fibres, linen has been valued for centuries for its strength, absorbency, and distinctive character; combined with cotton, it yields a cloth that balances softness with structure and deepens in beauty with time. The towels are finished with openwork hems, fringed edges, and a braided silk hanging loop woven in France on traditional wooden looms dating to the 19th century, machines with a slow, deliberate mechanism that produces one metre of braid per hour. It is a process that resists acceleration, and the result carries the assured character of something made without compromise.
